Betvictor will lay you 40/1 against Third Intention winning the Jewson Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in about 20 weeks’ time. If he doesn’t run you get your stake back as a free bet (up to £50). I strongly advise that you take this. Third Intention is a horse I’ve always been interested in – I’m convinced there’s a good race in him and have backed him each time he’s run. He has appeared quirky and looked best held up, but a wind op in summer seems to have helped him keep his head down, and he won comfortably on his seasonal debut.
Still only 6, his lack of success last season sees him retain his novice status. He’s run 9 times at Cheltenham – 2 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third – and there must be every chance he will be aimed at the Jewson again (he finished 6th in it this year). If he lines up, he’ll almost certainly be the most experienced chaser in the field, with some of the best form to boot. He’s 4 times the price he should be imo and must be backed, especially with that precious concession of not losing your stake.
